Review: Potter’s Ridge – Tagaytay City

Potter's Ridge Frontage

On of our recent trips to celebrate my birthday, we went to one of the nearer and more popular tourist spots.. Tagaytay. It is quite know for being the Baguio of the south since it boasts not only of a cool climate but it also has a good view of the Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. In recent years, a number of commercial establishments have been built particularly in the near the central part of the city. People who want to enjoy the quiet provincial life yet have the comforts of the city within reach are usual visitors.

We are frequent visitors to Tagaytay given its proximity to Paranaque City which is where we live. There are several routes to Tagaytay but we usually take the Sta. Rosa Exit.

On this trip, we stayed at the Potter’s Ridge Hotel. The hotel also has other room types like the standard and deluxe rooms for those on a tighter budget. It’s a three level structure with the entrance to the hotel being at the topmost level. It’s not too close to the center of Tagaytay and I think is in fact already in Alfonso, Cavite. It’s location, however, does not take away from the breathtaking views and quiet comfort of its rooms. Unfortunately, their website http://pottersridge.net/ is currently unavailable.

The price of an overnight stay in the suite (roughly around 4K PHP). I think this was around 6K but we were offered a discount (they regularly provide this, just ask).We didn’t even have to make an advance payment although I did have to reserve over the phone. We just confirmed our arrival date and time a day before we were scheduled to be there.

The suite has its own modern bathroom with a love seat/sofa bed by its own entrance to the viewdeck. It also has some comfy furniture, a flat screen TV and of course my personal favorite, free Wi-Fi. The view from right outside the suite’s sliding doors is expansive.

The view from the suite room is quite breathtaking since it gives a panoramic view of the countryside including the Taal Lake.

Suite Room

In terms of customer service and the place/room (in particular the suite) and value for money, I would give it a 4/5. If you love quiet time, this is the place. Improving their food will get them a long way 🙂
