Recipe: Leche Flan

I learned to make leche flan back in highscool from my Tita Ludy. It’s actually quite simple so I’m sharing the recipe here in case you want to try your hand at it. I’ve heard from family and friends that it’s quite good. 🙂

Ingredients: (makes 2 large molds)


3 eggs (yolk and white)

1 can evaporated milk

1/2  cup sugar

Beat the eggs thoroughly in a bowl. Add evaporated milk and half cup sugar until thoroughly mixed. Taste and add sugar if necessary.

Put sugar in a pan and heat until liquid and golden. Pour into the molds.

Once your molds are ready, pour in the flan mixture.

Pour water into your steamer and put in the molds.

To check if the flan is ready, insert a fork into the mixture. If it comes out without any mixture sticking unto it then it’s ready. Remove the molds from the steamer and cool. Once cool enough, place it in the refrigerator.

To serve, use a knife to separate the sides of the flan from the mold. Put a plate over the mold and turn it over so that the syrup is on top of the flan.
