In our quest to try every bed and breakfast in Tagaytay (not really), we chanced upon another great find. Wilson’s Place is located in Bgy. Asisan. Right after you see the Bag of Beans and Soto Grande, take the next right turn. It’s found on the right side of the road a short distance away from the Flower Farm. It used to be known as Bakasyon Grande and is also owned and operated by the owners of Balay Indang.
What are the reasons why I like Wilson’s so much? Let me name a few..
The Location – If you’ve read some of my posts, you’d know that we don’t prefer the hotel-type accommodations when we are in Tagaytay. We would much rather stay at cozy bed and breakfasts or inns because we want to feel like we’re really not in Metro Manila.
What I found nice about Wilson’s is that it’s located off the main road so it’s quiet and cozy. The place is well maintained and it’s obvious that whoever decorated the interiors had an eye for design, especially the main building. I loved the mismatched dining chairs, the animal sculptures/statues around the pool and cottages, the chandelier and the high ceilings. Lots of lovely color and lines. It looked straight out of the pages of a magazine.
They have parking within the B&B but it’s quite small. Don’t worry however, there is another parking area across from the grounds and it’s quite safe. In case you decide to go out, it is still quite near to some popular establishments like the Bag of Beans. A short drive away takes you to the Sky Ranch or Taal Vista Hotel for some adventure at the theme park or a view of the Taal Lake.
Value for Money and Great Staff – We stayed at one of the detached cottages for PHP8500. It’s good for 4 pax and has both dinner and breakfast included. Now that is value for money in my opinion. The staff was also very helpful and attentive and that definitely added to the overall charm of the place.
The Food – Since we have been to countless times, we would much rather stay and enjoy the place than go out so dining in was a big plus for us. All that and I haven’t even had a chance to show you just how good and plentiful the food is. You can check out the gallery for the photos. If you’ve been to Balay Indang (we haven’t but we will probably try it soon enough), I’ve heard that the food is really good and they serve some of their dishes at Wilson’s at well. Dinner and breakfast were both sit-down affairs with the resort staff bringing in each course. Dinner started with an appetizer (soup and salad), followed by the main course(s), rice, pasta and dessert. Overflowing juice also accompanied the meal. We could not even finish what was on our plate. That’s how full we were. Breakfast was just as filling with of course, free-flowing hot chocolate and brewed coffee.
The Pool – I really loved their pool. The blue color of the tiles made it look very clean and inviting. It also had a wading area which was good for sitting or lying down in. It was an instant hit with kids. I don’t think they had a lifeguard though, so always be sure to supervise your kids. The pool is quite deep on one side.
They also had a few pool chairs which were quite comfy. We spent a lot of time lounging by the pool both day and night just enjoying the breeze.
We really enjoyed the time we spent at Wilson’s. I’m sure we will have many more trips back in the next few months. I give them a 5/5 for cleanliness, hospitality, great and plentiful food and their nice pool 🙂
