My 4 year old daughter has been a huge Frozen fan since the movie came out. She knows all the lyrics to the songs, she has the costume and she has various Frozen dolls and toys. This fact is was well known to a lot of our friends so when one of them saw an ad for Disney On Ice coming to Manila, with the Frozen cast, she let us know right away. It was impossible for us not to see the show. Neither Espie or I have ever watched the show so we were also looking forward to it.
Since it’s our first time, we wanted to be near the stage. We got patron tickets that cost about PHP2000 each. It was pretty pricey but it was all worth it. We had a good vantage point.
The show was at the Smart Araneta Center and it’s been some time since we had last seen a show there. I was also surprised to see that the area was already well developed with a big hotel right beside the coliseum. It looked a lot better than the last time I saw it. Well ventilated and very clean, including the rest rooms. Programs and souvenirs were also being sold right at the entrance. If you preferred to buy snacks and drinks, there were also a number of stalls you could choose from.
The show was started off by Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck. They were then followed by some of my favorite Disney characters in their own segments. We saw Ariel transform from the Little Mermaid to a human with legs. We also saw Belle fall in love with the Beast. Rapunzel came down from her tower and finally sisters Elsa and Anna showed everyone that true love isn’t just the romantic kind. They just about showed every key scene from the movies and played the notable songs from each. We felt like we were kids again.
We really enjoyed the show and what we loved about it was that it was no longer limited to just singing and dancing. They had great light and sound effects that brought us back to the story of each fairy tale. We sang along to the songs and cheered to the stunts as the cast performed.
Here are some more photos from the show:
It was truly a delight to see our daughter’s eyes light up when she saw the characters come to life and dance just a few feet away from us. Since it was also the first time for the Frozen cast to be included in the Manila show, the audience gave Elsa and Anna a different kind of reception. You could hear the screams from the kids and hear them singing to the songs. It was truly a one of a kind experience that every kid should get to see at least once.
